A teen was arrested in Central Florida after fleeing law enforcement in a stolen vehicle.

The 16-year-old was arrested after fleeing deputies in a stolen vehicle, then on foot. Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted the stolen vehicle headed eastbound on Ulmerton Road. They kept their distance while Eagle launched to keep eyes on it, according to local law enforcement.

The driver turned into a shopping center off Park Boulevard and 49th Street and began weaving through the lot. When a deputy approached from the opposite direction, the driver took off, cutting across the lot, before making their way over to the CVS lot, where he unloaded a passenger.

The vehicle then made for the far side of the lot, but a deputy blocked the exit while the deputy who had been tailing it closed in from behind. There was nowhere left to go.

The driver ran for a few yards before meeting a deputy with a taser.

According to local law enforcement, the teen driver was charged with Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing to Elude, Resisting Arrest Without Violence, and No Valid Driver’s License. He first claimed the vehicle belonged to his grandmother, but it was not long before the truth came out according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
